Beginner Algs

Overview of all algorithms used for the Beginner’s Method.

Each letter means to turn a side clockwise:
R = Right, U = Up, L = Left
An apostrophe () means turn counterclockwise.

Cube Notation Summary:

Solving Corners

Position a corner in the top layer above the spot it needs to go and do one of the following:

Righty Alg
(R U R’ U’)

Lefty Alg
(L’ U’ L U)

White Up

No corner in top

3x Righty Alg
3x (R U R’ U’)

take out corner
(R U R’ U’)

White Right

White Left

Solving Edges

Match an edge without yellow to its center color.
Face it, then check which side the white sticker needs to go:

U (Righty Alg)
-> resolve corner

U’ (Lefty Alg)
-> resolve corner

Edge to right

Edge to left

no edge in top?
hold a wrong edge on the right side

U (Righty Alg)
-> resolve corner

Creating Yellow Cross

Look at the yellow edges and do one of the following:

F (Right Alg) F’

F 2x (Right Alg) F’

Yellow line

Yellow hook

Yellow dot

F (Right Alg) F’
-> solve yellow hook

Solve Yellow Edges

Align two yellow edges to their correct center

Sune
(R U R’ U R U2 R’)

Sune
-> realign edges again

Adjacent edges

Diagonal edges

Match Yellow Corners

Bring all the yellow corners in their correct spot
(= matching the colors of edges next to it).

Solved corner in front left

Niklas
(R U’ L’ U R’ U’ L)
-> realign edges

Solve Yellow Corners

Solve all yellow corners by twisting them one by one.

Hold yellow corner in bottom right

Righty Algs until corner is solve
-> turn bottom layer
Repeat until solved 🥳
